Planning a wedding in Toronto, one of the most vibrant cities in Canada, can be daunting as well as exciting. Toronto weddings can be as simple as a quick city hall ceremony to an extravaganza for up to 600 guests at an historic castle. Even if you are looking for something in between, the city has everything you need to celebrate your union.
First things first. Decide what time of year you would like your wedding and for how many guests. These two details will help you narrow down the options for location. Summer and early fall may offer an opportunity to have an outdoor wedding, or reception. Early spring and later in the fall and winter tend to be quite damp, or cold for entertaining guests outside, unless you set up heated tents. If you do want to brave the elements, then there are several tent rental companies to accommodate your part.
For an outdoor wedding, consider one of several beautiful parks located throughout the city. Check with the municipal parks department to find out what event permits, if any, are required. Make sure to consider parking if you have guests traveling by car. Toronto also has a wonderful subway system for those wishing to take public transportation.
Courtyards of various hotels, or larger estate grounds offer rental spaces for weddings. Some even provide an all inclusive package that covers location, catering, and more. Others may allow you to bring in your own caterer, photographer and decorations. Compare prices for the full packages versus bring-your-own options to stay within your wedding budget.
For indoor weddings, there are obviously many churches and synagogues from which to choose for the ceremony. For non-denominational ceremonies or for receptions there are several banquet halls available. Again the cost and location will depend on the season and number of guests. Some more popular venues book years in advance during the popular summer and fall seasons. Wedding photographers, video makers and even bakeries specializing in wedding cakes may need to be reserved well in advance of your wedding date.
Another item to consider when planning, is whether to hire a planner to coordinate everything, or if you or a friend or family member will take the lead. If you hire a planner, then of course that will add to your overall cost, however, this may be worth the reduction in stress. If you are trying to save money and have a talent for details and scheduling, then go ahead and take charge.
There are some wonderful banquet halls or rooms around town that have views of the skyline, or of Lake Ontario. Places that offer a spectacular view will cost more, but you can counter this by cutting down on the number of guests or your food selections. The right photographer will also know how to take advantage of each setting to stage wonderful photos for your album. Caterers will provide several menus for you to choose combinations of appetizers, main entree and dessert, as well as open bar that includes all types of drinks or only beer and wine. If cost is a real issue then offer wine with the meal and offer the bar as cash only.
For many of the details on your list you will want to get more than one estimate, or obtain samples. This is the fun part. Visit several caterers who will present you will several dishes to actually taste test. Set up appointments with several bakeries to sample a variety of cakes to find just the right one for your special day. If you decide to hire a band, you will get to see them live at other special events where they are playing, or listen to demo discs. Photographers are a bit easier, but not as much fun as eating cake and listening to music. Most have websites with albums or videos for viewing. It is as simple as deciding whether you like their style or not and their rates.
There are a lot of parts to planning a wedding, but Toronto is one classy place to host one of your most important life celebrations. It will also be an awesome location for the many anniversary dates to come.
Toronto Weddings provides a variety of tips invitation ideas, Toronto wedding cakes, flowers arrangements, banquet hall, a photographer and videographer to name a few.

Every bride knows that preparing and planning a wedding is truly expensive. From the invitations to the reception, every detail has a corresponding price attached to it. If you are a bride and you have done some baking before, you may want to consider baking and icing your very own wedding cake.
Aside from the fact that you get to enjoy this fun hobby, you can save a lot of money as well. On top of it all, you get some bragging rights by telling that you have personally made your own cake. Plus you get to choose all the ingredients and flavors that go into the cake. You can make a truly unique wedding cake that your guests will be sure to remember for years to come.
If you already know the basics of baking, here are some additional tips that will help you prepare the cake of your dreams.
- As with the saying, ‘begin with the end in mind’, the style, structure and icing materials of your cake should be considered if you know that the cake will have to be transported to the reception venue. Consider the length of the travel and the car you will use to transport it.
- For cake toppers, you can ask your florist to assist you in placing real flowers instead. Icing flowers are much more complicated to make and they may ‘wither’ during transport if not handled ‘professionally’. You can stick the floral topper on the top of the cake which ideally is made of plastic or Styrofoam.
- Stick to a simple cake design. Make your expectations realistic and a wedding cake with too many designs may look too busy and a little slip on the design may make it really noticeable. Get one where flaws will be concealed and where slips can easily be remedied.
- Depending on the bride’s gown, the ingredients of the icing will be indicative of the finished products color. Buttercream, when used as icing, will match an off-white wedding gown. Ivory fondant will have the same effect as well. Use pure white icing if the bride’s dress is pure white. As much as possible, have the icing color the same as your wedding gown. You can also try to make the cake match or complement the other decorations at your wedding reception.
What is most important is that you get to experience baking your very own wedding cake. It is normal and quite expected for the bride to purchase her own wedding cake but to make one yourself is truly admirable. Literally, you are ‘hands-on’ in your own wedding preparations.
On your wedding day, you can look at your wedding cake and say to yourself that this has been the most delicious and most romantic cake you have baked so far. Maybe it really is the effort that can make your wedding cake truly special. Employ other people’s help as well, such as for transporting it to the venue, or incorporating their suggestions as you make the cake for the most memorable day of your life.

If you are searching for summer wedding flowers, rest easy and know that you have a world of options open to you. From traditional favorites to exotic tropicals, the summer season offers a huge selection of colors and flower varieties.
In addition to a tremendous assortment, you will also find relief at the cash register. Flower prices have a tendency to fluctuate significantly from the fall through the spring, especially around holidays. Once Mother’s Day passes, flower farms drop their prices, which is a great time to find excellent deals on wedding flowers.
Vibrant and fun colors are frequently chosen for summer wedding flowers along with some of these popular types of flowers:
-Alstroemeria (Tiger Lily) in all their vivid colors
-Chrysanthemums and Poms in white, yellow and lavender
-Gerbera Daisies in strong and brilliant colors including red, yellow, hot pink and orange
-Hydrangea in white, blue and pink
-Iris in white and purple
-Asiatic Lilies in orange, yellow and white
-Oriental Lilies in white and various shades of pink
-Large and Petite Sunflowers
-Snapdragons in vibrant colors
-Roses in cream, red, white, hot pink and other vibrant colors
-Orchids in white and shades of lavender and fuscia
-Tropical Flowers in their amazing palette of strong and striking colors
For fillers take advantage of the season to break away from the ordinary Baby’s Breath and Leather Leaf. Explore these fillers and greens options for your summer wedding flowers:
-Queen Anne’s Lace or Green Mist
-Solidago
-Bells of Ireland
-Aster Montecasino in white or purple
You may also want to consider the following as you ponder the types of summer wedding flowers that are right for you:
Beach weddings typically encompass softer colors including whites, blues and yellows. Blue Hydrangea, white roses and yellow Gerbera Daisies are excellent options to consider.
Early summer weddings are a great time to incorporate various shades of pinks, lavender and purple into your decorations. Roses are some of the most traditional wedding flowers because their striking color and effect are hard to match.
Late summer weddings can take advantage of the transition to autumn by incorporating warm colors, such as strong yellows, oranges and reds, into your bouquets and wedding flower arrangements. Think along the lines of red and orange Gerbera Daisies, Roses, Sunflowers and Snapdragons.
Tropical themed weddings are also quite popular during the summer months. Tropical flowers tend to have bold shapes and dazzling colors that stand as striking contrasts on a lush green background.
Finally, you will also want to contemplate the number of flower varieties you wish to use. Some popular choices:
-Roses
-Calla Lilies (alone, paired with roses, Asiatic lilies, or orchids)
-Gerbera Daisies (alone or paired with roses)
-Dendrobium Orchids (alone or paired with roses)
-Hydrangea (alone, paired with roses, or accenting other flowers)
-Asiatic Lilies (alone or accenting other flowers)
-Petite Sunflowers
If you are doing your own arrangements, many online wholesale flower suppliers offer wedding packages with a variety of popular combinations, in addition to letting you create your own. For example, one popular package of mixed summer wedding flowers brings together:
-Oriental Lilies (your choice of color)
-Asiatic Lilies (your choice of color)
-Tulips (your choice of color)
-Gerbera Daisies (your choice of color)
-Telstar Iris
-Sunflowers
-Snapdragons
-Solidago
-Bupleurum
Summer is excellent for weddings offering a huge selection of flower varieties and colors at the best prices of the year. In fact, there may be just a few too many choices, but with a little diligence you should be able to find the ideal summer wedding flowers for your big day.

When you are planning the centerpieces for your wedding there are many things to consider. The wedding theme is one of the most important things you should consider, but you should also take into consideration what style the bride and groom are going with. Creative wedding centerpieces can add a lovely personal touch to the entire event, but why go with the traditional floral arrangements? Here is a list of the top 3 traditional centerpiece replacements.
1. Candle or Candelabra Centerpieces
Unfortunately due to fire hazards there are many places that will not allow candles as centerpieces now a day. Lucky for you modern advances in technology have come to your rescue, there are many realistic, battery-operated candles that look just like the real thing on the market, you can even get ones that are scented. These “fake” candles can come in a range of sizes that in most cases have the light or “flame” set low in the candle, so your guests can’t even notice the difference.
2. Centerpieces that are Environmentally Friendly
There are a few different ways you can have environmentally friendly centerpieces without going for the traditional floral arrangements. One of the ways to keep away from the flowers but still have a beautiful centerpiece is to use potted plants. These potted plants can also double as party favors for your guests and there are a number of beautiful small trees and shrubs that will add just the right look to your weddings tables, if it suits your theme consider the extremely beautiful bonsai trees which can be affordable and add that little bit of wow factor you’re looking for. Another way you may want to go if you are looking to keep everything friendly for mother earth is to have fresh fruit arrangements. This can be a very simple way to make a statement with your centerpieces, just arrange some fresh fruit in a beautiful glass fruit bowl. Some great fruit to use for this centerpiece could be apples, lemons, oranges, or limes.
3. Centerpieces That Your Guests Can Munch on
There are a number of ways you can go about creating a wonderful snack for your guests by making your centerpieces edible. Using cake for your centerpiece may be one way to go if you are finding it difficult to decide on a flavor or design for the wedding cake. A great idea if you are having trouble deciding, you can make a different one for each of the tables. By placing the cake or even cupcakes on a pedestal cake stand that is wonderfully decorated in the middle of each table. This will do double duty as a centerpiece and a dessert for your guests. This can be a delicious and attractive option that you will find is also budget friendly. If you want a fun and colorful centerpiece that can also double as a guest favor than candy may be the way to go. Arrange the candy in glass jars or bowls, if you choose to you may even want to include a colorful design on paper bags that your guests can use to collect some of the goodies after dinner as a nice little reception snack.
Attendees always appreciate little personal touches that the bride and groom include at the wedding receptions. These creative details never go unnoticed and can really make your wedding stand out to the guests. It is always a good idea that you take the time to create centerpieces that will reflect the personality of both the bride and groom, and that will give that extra wow factor to all friends and family.

Gone are the days when weddings evoked images of pure white. White gowns, white flowers, white lace, white bouquets are now giving way to splashes of color. Colorful weddings are becoming the norm. They not only create a sense of excitement not only for the bride and groom and wedding planner but also give the guests something new and creative to forward to.
Colorful weddings needn’t cost a fortune, although reports that cover big celebrity weddings give you that impression. With a little creativity and innovation and a little hard work a colorful wedding can be held within the constraints of a regular wedding budget. It is very important of course to prioritize and calculate how much you want to spend on each aspect of the wedding. Once this is done you have a base to build on.
Before picking out colors, you need to study environment of the venue. If it is open air then of course any color will do but if the walls of the hall are say brick then obviously choosing bright pink will be a disaster. So to begin with choose the venue and then pick out suitable colors – everything needn’t be in one single shade – a combination of 2 or more colors will break the monotony and bring life into the place.
Five essential elements of any wedding are attire, invitations flowers cake and thank you gifts. Consider each aspect one by one. Firstly attire. The wedding gown can be accentuated with various colors. The bridesmaids and flower girls attire of course can simply splash out color. Since they will be very conspicuous throughout the day their costumes play a very important role in designing the wedding. Secondly – invitations. Your invitation will set the guests mood. Apart from the ribbons and the design also make sure that the print is clear coz you don’t want your guest to develop a squint trying to figure out the date and time of your wedding. So choose the colors wisely. Thirdly – flowers and decor. The beauty of nature is that you cannot outdo its color. So no matter what color theme you choose you will definitely find flowers in various hues and sizes of that color.
So your bouquet and the general decor can be nicely spruced up to look warm and inviting by mixing and matching various shades and types of flowers. Fourthly – the wedding cake. This is simple enough to imagine – sugar icing can be done in any color and any shape so that the cake looks like a part of the decoration. Fifthly – favors or thank you gifts – now make sure that you don’t pile your guests with useless gifts just because you want it to match your theme. But strive to get as much of a balance as possible. Gift wrap and ribbons can add to the colors of the day.
So now your colorful wedding is all set to dazzle your guests. If you have time and can spare the effort and the finance look into color coordinating smaller details like the table cloth, napkins, the ring pillow and maybe even the menu!! Don’t compromise on the food taste and combinations though – we don’t want our guest to turn red and green and blue – there is too much of a good thing after all – even while having colorful weddings!!!!!

Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year. It is a time to express your true feelings for that special person in your life. One of the most romantic ways to express your feelings is by giving the gift of flowers. They are not only a romantic gift, but they make for a decorative addition to the home or office. They are one of the best ways to communicate your heartfelt sentiments and let that special someone know how much he or she really means to you.
There are many romantic ways to express your feelings with Valentine’s Day flowers. For instance, you can give them after a special romantic dinner, have them delivered at the office, or bring them home as a romantic surprise. As well, many people will give flowers along with another special gift such as chocolates, jewelry, engagement ring, lingerie, stuffed animal, etc.
Roses are the most well known flowers given on Valentine’s Day. Whether as a single rose or in a bouquet, your special love will definitely love the romantic gesture. The wonderful fragrance will make her heart melt. When selecting roses, make sure you know what each color signifies. For instance, purple roses symbolize long lasting love, red roses mean true love, yellow roses signifies friendship, and white roses mean peace. It is important to pick the right color that expresses your true feelings to avoid misunderstandings.
Roses are not the only kind of romantic flower people give on Valentine’s Day. Lilac and Narcissus are beautiful flowers that emit a wonderful fragrance. White or purple lilac represents sincerity. Orchids are a beautiful choice that symbolizes sensuality. White lilies are a lovely way to express the harmony and purity of your love. A bouquet of daisies or orange-blossom will express your faithfulness to your special love. White carnations or white gardenia represent hidden passion. Multi-colored tulips say your love is sincere and ever-lasting. Yellow jasmine symbolizes passion. Mixing and matching flowers into a beautiful bouquet will make a positive and romantic long lasting impression.
Now, with the surge of flower delivery services, including online flower delivery businesses, you can send flowers to anyone in almost any place around the world and have them arrive fresh and in the same condition as when they were sent. Romance is more than about just pleasing each other, it’s a signal that you still care, that you still find your partner exciting, mysterious, worth impressing and pleasing. However, often time can our partners of those elements, and turn them from the wonderful person you met to somebody comfortable and well known, predictable and taken for granted. As soon as you slip into that rut, where you no longer feel like doing much more than the basics together, than your relationship can begin sliding into the danger zone. If there is no excitement in your relationship, than is it too farfetched to believe your partner might start searching for excitement somewhere else? No-best to bring the romance back, and keep your love alive and well.
Too often people go about romance the wrong way, and for the wrong reasons. We all know what common, romantic gestures are. Flowers, dinner, jewelry. The standard romantic gestures are common, done by everybody, and as a result can seem to lack inspiration, thought, and consequently the very romance they are meant to represent. If you’re just doing what everybody else does, than your partner might very well think you are doing so out of a vague sense of obligation. Nothing will kill romance faster.
Instead, you have to ask yourself, why be romantic? Why should I do something romantic for my partner? What inspires me to do this, to do something special for them? What about them makes me want to impress them, excite them, show them how much I care about them? The purpose for romance is to make your partner feel appreciated, desirable, wanted, loved-special. Thus, common romantic gifts often fail to do exactly that, unless a unique spin is put on them. Much better is a romantic gesture that reflects something personal about the person, some attribute or quality or aspect of them that you truly admire and love.
For example, in a recent Will Ferrell comedy, he tries to woo a baker. Rather than show up with the usual compliment of chocolates and flowers, he brings her a tray of bags of flour, riffing off the traditional romantic gift, and showing an appreciation for her unique passion. This clues her into the fact that he not only appreciates and loves her, but understands what drives her and why she is special (in fact, romance comedies are an excellent source of ideas-watch and learn how the characters surprise and please each other with unique romantic gestures).
So, if you want to be romantic, think about your partner. What are their main hobbies, interests, passions? What makes them unique? Then, having identified those things, find a way to surprise them with a gift or gesture that incorporates this. You could give a bouquet of sharpened pencils to a writer, for example. What matters almost much as the gift or gesture itself is the effort your partner will perceive your having put into it-you want to show them first and foremost that you are exerting yourself because they are special to you. If your gift does not make them feel unique, than it will fail. Generic gestures are the death of romance-never forget!
One of the best ways to bring romance back is to get healthy and to look good. A turned on partner is a happy partner. Get hot, ripped, and become even more attractive with the super intense Insanity workout, get moving and singing and dancing and back in shape with the Body Gospel Workout!
How Valentine’s Day evolved is a fascinating story. In early Roman times, the Roman Feast of Lupercalia was a celebration of pagan fertility held on February 14 that honored the Queen of Oman known as Juno, the Roman gods and goddesses, as well as the goddess of marriage and women. During the celebrations, women would write special love letters and place the letters in an urn. The men would then retrieve a letter from the urn and passionately court the woman who wrote the particular love letter.
The most well known origin of Valentine’s Day comes from a 3rd century Roman priest by the name of Valentine. Against the explicit orders of Emperor Claudius II, Valentine performed secret marriages. The Emperor prohibited marriages because he thought that unmarried soldiers were more apt to enlist in his army. Valentine was caught and sentenced to death. The story says that Valentine conveyed a letter to a friend which was signed ‘From Your Valentine’ just prior to his execution on February 14 in 270 A.D. In 496 A.D., in honor of St. Valentine as the patron saint of lovers, Pope Gelasius named St. Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Ever since that time, people all over the world have been celebrating Valentines Day.
Flowers have become a staple of Valentines Day. The rose as a symbol of love, is the most widely used flower to give someone on Valentine’s Day, especially the traditional bouquet of a dozen red roses. Over the years there have an increase in the diversity of flowers chosen for the special day. Different types of roses include multi-colored roses, white roses, red roses, yellow roses, long stemmed roses, pink roses, and special valentine roses. Other types of flowers now chosen include: carnations, lilies, hyacinths, crocuses, buttercups, tulips, and daisies. Men will send a beautiful bouquet of flowers to their special sweetheart. When giving Valentine flowers as gifts to men, popular colors of flowers include purple, orange, and red. Women love such colors as red, lavender, peach, and pink.
By giving a flower to your special loved one, you are expressing how you feel about that person. The choice of Valentine’s Day flowers will depend on the sentiments you want to express.
For instance, a red rose expresses strong feelings and love. Lilac roses are a symbol of love at first sight. Peach Pink rose is a symbol of gratitude, sympathy, gentleness and friendship. Red Roses and White Roses mixed in a bouquet means truth and love, union and harmony, or true love. Lily means that one is a nurturing person. A red carnation means admiration. A white Carnation means pure love, faithfulness, innocence, and sweet and lovely. Chamomile/Golden Marguerite/Anthemis means cheerfulness and friendship. Iris means promise in love, wisdom, faith, and hope. Purple Lilac means the first emotions of love. Ambrosia means love is reciprocated. Pink Camellia means longing for you. White Chrysanthemum means truth and loyal love. Forget-Me-Not means true love, hope, and memories. Gloxina means love at first sight. Pansy means the recipient is being thought about warmly. Yellow and orange roses being mixed together means passionate thoughts. A yellow tulip means hopeless love.
Valentines Day is a day to let that special someone how you feel. Giving flowers to your loved one is a thoughtful and romantic way to share your sentiments.

Valentine’s day is fast approaching and men across the globe will begin stress out about it. Most men, however, wait until the last moment to purchase their Valentine’s day gift. This is because they’re either forgetful, lazy or don’t have any ideas to make the day special. Luckily, Valentine’s day is a very easy occasion to celebrate. Here are some tips to avoid being the the average Joe this year!
The two most common gifts on Valentine’s day are flowers and chocolates. These are very common because ladies love chocolate and flowers are a symbol of love. It is definitely recommended to give one or both of these gifts to your lady, however, why stop there? Is sugar and flowers really the way you feel about your girl? If yes, then maybe this is where you should stop. A few other ideas include Lingerie, A day at the spa and jewelery.
Our favorite idea is Lingerie as this is a gift for both of you. She gets to feel sexy and loved while you get to see her in the lingerie. It’s really a win-win and it’s surprising that this is not the most common gift on Valentine’s day.
A day at the spa is also a great gift as she will get to spend the day at the spa getting whichever treatment she wants. This is also usually given as a gift certificate so she will enjoy this Valentine’s day present on the day you give it to her and the day she uses it!
Jewelery is the other classic and thoughtful gift to consider, however, this is often above people’s budgets. When selecting Jewelery get something that she will enjoy, wear and show off to her friends. If she never wears bracelets then giving her a bracelet is a very risky and inadvisable gift. However, if she loves necklaces then a heart shaped pendant necklace might be the gift she will absolutely adore!
Whichever gift you decide, remember the card. You should always include a card as ladies know that if you selected a card you would have to put some thought into it. This is sometimes very tricky as you don’t want to get something that doesn’t display your feelings. This is exactly why they like the card because it shows the thought that you put into the card.
Finally, instead of just wrapping your gifts up and giving them to her try to be a bit creative. If you’re giving flowers and something else then send the flowers to her work (or home) and bring the gift to her later. This gives her two gifts, two chances to think of you and shows that you put some work and thought into the day.
Remember, Valentine’s day is not really that complex. You should plan early, give a card, buy something thoughtful. If you can show your loved one that you put some time, work and thought into the gift they will like it regardless of what you give. Valentine’s day has become very complex but following simple tips and planning early can really save you a lot of trouble!
